It’s been a mixed week for me...
Hi there,
Welcome back. I trust you’ve had a good week and you’re looking forward to the weekend. Now that Cooper, the dog, is back with his rightful owners, I will change the topic of conversation.
It’s been a mixed week for me, and that’s why I’ve used the above title. I will start with a positive and end with a positive as they outscore the negatives.
First, my week started well on Monday as I finished 3 rd in my local golf club’s Winter Senior Competition. It was the first time I’d been in the top three places in seven weeks, so I was quite chuffed. I think I’ve won £4.00 for my golf piggy bank, but I won’t know until next Monday! (positive)
On Tuesday, it rained all day, and I mean heavy rain. It prevented my wife and I from venturing out for our normal Tuesday morning walk. I don’t know about you, but I get frustrated when l can’t get out for some fresh air and some exercise. (negative)
However, Tuesday evening made up for our disappointment in the morning. We went to the theatre to see ‘Saturday Night Fever.’ What a performance. It was brilliant. The dancing was as good as ‘Strictly,’ as were the storyline and acting. The younger generation in the audience danced in the aisles, but all I could manage was to stand up, wiggle my hips, and throw my arms in the air. Not bad for a senior citizen though! (positive)
Some friends we hadn’t seen for a while came around for a meal on Wednesday evening, so we had a good catch-up and made promises to meet more often. It’s so easy in the Winter months to cosy up at home and not make the effort to go out when it’s dark, wet, or/and cold. I must admit we belong in that category! (positive)
Yesterday was ‘Black Thursday’ for the family and me. I sold my beautiful car. It still hasn’t hit me yet, but I admit to shedding a tear or two when I watched it being driven away. The car was five years old, and I’d had it from new. We were a two-car family, but we decided to have just one car instead. How we will manage, I don’t know. We will have to adjust as best we can via compromise and concession. (negative)
Friday proved to be my best day. I finished Book 2 of the ‘Tom Stevens’ Series called ‘An Educated Guess,’ Parts 1 & 2. The hard work of self-editing and proofreading now begins. I can’t believe it has taken me four years to write two books in the series and a prequel. Book three, here I come! (positive)
Next week will be another change. I will talk about my books. I will also ask you what kind of books you like to read.
Until then, happy reading,
Mansel
